Overview

The Coalgate Operation consists of a quarry and processing plant specialising in the extraction and milling of Bentonite clay as well as locally sourced Limestone, Kaolin Clay and Dolomite.

Canterbury Bentonite Ltd commenced operations in 1967 as subsidiary company of Lime & Marble Ltd Nelson. The operation was later owned and operated by Omya New Zealand Ltd before being acquired by Transform Minerals Ltd in May 2006.

Location

Coalgate is located 11 km from the rural town of Darfield, west of Christchurch, in the Canterbury foothills’ of the Southern Alps, South Island, New Zealand.

The plant is conveniently located to major transport routes and the shipping ports of Lyttleton and Timaru.
